Minor updates and a beautiful sunset

I thought I'd give an update on the free feeding experiment with the bottle baby goat. I have to say it's a rousing success! This not so little girl is huge! She has definitely outgrown her dam fed half siblings, who were quite a bit bigger than her to start with. I've put her on twice a day feedings for now since she's eating hay well and I'll take her off kefir completely in another month or so.

I also separated my pregnant cow from her calf this week. She's due end of May and still nursing her calf. Once again, I realize that I really don't like cows, I just like to eat them. They are soooo much harder to keep contained than a goat!! A pregnant cow is fully capable of mostly jumping any fence in her way and crushing what she doesn't jump. Grrrrr.

However, we had a beautiful sunset last night. You know those ones where you have a dark cloud mass above you, it's raining and then the sun peeks through the small space between the horizon and the clouds? The light on those ones is sooo gorgeous! It only lasted a minute or two and, as usual with sunset pics, the picture does not do it justice. Here it is anyway.
