Just a little update

I know, I haven't been posting much but there really hasn't been anything going on. It's just been raining. A lot. Just this month alone we've had around 6". Our annual precipitation is only around 14". We also had a lot more snow than usual this last winter as well, record setting actually. The river has been in an almost constant flood stage since early May. The humidity here yesterday was 85%. We are usually around 20%-30% so this much humidity is AWFUL! I don't know how you all who live in humid places can stand it. My hat goes off to you! The plants sure love it, though, my pasture has never, ever looked so good!

I did get a bit of fencing done, exciting, I know. As per the usual, I am 30' short of finishing the fence line. Sigh......... I have to go buy another roll of fencing. It's not like it won't get used but still, 30'?

We are also growing some tadpoles. On May 9, we fished some out of a neighbors little ornamental pond that was being removed. They are most likely Woodhouse Toad tadpoles as that's what we have the most of around here. It's been a while, but they are finally starting to sprout legs. At least with all the rain, there is lots of standing water so finding algae to feed them hasn't been a problem.

Here's their first setup, a small 8"x12" or so storage container. You can just see the little things.

Once they hit a certain size, we had to come with some new digs. Same basic idea, but this tote is 1 1/2' x 3'. The rocks are to give them something to climb onto when they turn into toadlets. They are MUCH bigger now. Their bodies are roughly an inch, probably a little over 2" if you count the tails. They are sprouting back legs now as well.

In early June, the last goat had her babies, triplets. They were small, the smallest I've had around here. The littlest one was found still all wet and gooey, and cold, on the floor. We got her fixed up and now she's out running around with the big kids. She was 3 lbs 13 oz at birth. Her brother was 5 lbs 13 oz and her sister was 4 lbs 15 oz. Previously, I've never had anything below 7 lbs really. Everybody is healthy and growing, though. The little one has almost tripled her weight in almost 3 weeks.
