Yay! It's spring!

Well, it snowed all Easter and most of yesterday as well, but that's ok as we really could use the moisture! Before the storm hit I managed to get one compost pile transformed into one whole new bed, most one whole new bed and the 'annual topping' off of two beds. I then covered it all with straw to keep all that composty goodness and topped that with pallets and whatever else I could find to keep the straw in place through the winds we also received.

Today the storm has cleared (for a day) and the weather was good so I planted! Not much yet, just some peas, radishes, lettuce and various herbs. Oh, and some broccoli. I've never tried

starting it in the garden before and it may be too early, but I figured I'd try anyway. Never learn elseways. :) It was sooooo good to be gardening again. I've even enjoyed the renovating I've been doing in the rhubarb bed to try and gain some control over the quackgrass. Yeah, right. Anyway, presenting a bare, just planted bed!

Here it is before getting started with planting, still fortified agains the winds.

And here is my little helper helping me plant peas.
