So, a couple weeks ago my wonderful husband called and said he had the opportunity to get an old bus that was used as a mobile kitchen for a local farmer for harvest time. Did I want it? Um, yeah! So we went over that weekend, got it running and drove it home.
Now I had something else in mind when they called it a 'mobile kitchen', they had just pulled some seats out to make some room for a table. It was more a delivery vehicle. Not a problem! I happened to have a counter top I'd pulled out of our old singlewide that I used for chicken butchering as well a gas stove that had just been given to me. I also still had our old single laundry sink that was our main sink before I got the one I currently have.
We got it home and pulled the rest of the seats out (anybody want a school bus seat?) and I gave it a good scrubbing. Then I arranged the counter, a small table, the sink and the stove the way I wanted them. We still have to get the sink plumbed in, but the stove is up and running and that is the main thing. I like it!
Here's a view from the front of the bus. As you can see, I still have about half a bus of space left for storage.

I do want to get a few things like hot pads and maybe a few utensils out there but it's great as is. Once the water is running it'll be awesome! I can cook out there, do my distilling even when it's windy and use it for butchering as well. Yay!
I just love creative solutions. This is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks! While a bus is kinda ugly, being a vehicle means no property tax. I am going to paint it, though. Something not so......yellow. :)
