You know how some days it's just not worth getting out of bed? It
started with one of the dogs waking me at a little before 5:30 to go
out.
A little later I head out to do chores and find out that, for some
obscure dog reason, the dog had decided to dig up two roses and two
elderberries that I had planted this spring.
Why now? One elderberry
was completely gone and the other one, well, we'll see if it makes
it. The roses I think will be fine, they're pretty tough.
Yesterday my buck disappeared. He's been in this 40 acre pasture
for a year and a half and suddenly, yesterday, he decides to jump the
fence take off. He shares a pasture fence with the girls, why didn't
he go in there?
We looked and looked and looked for him. I suppose it's a good way
to get to know the neighbors? Anyway, we didn't have any luck. Then,
this morning as my husband was leaving for work, a guy a couple miles
down the road comes up and says he found our goat in with his cows
this morning. Great! We run out to unload the horse trailer as it and
the pickup are full of wood from this weekend that we hadn't unloaded
yet. While doing this, the 14 year old dog decides to mess in the
house. I'm really beginning to feel like it's a Monday! Anyway, I get
that taken care of and head off to pick up the goat.
This is a buck in rut. Those of you who have goats know what I'm
talking about. Those of you who don't, well.........use your
imagination! This a very sweet animal that looks and smells
absolutely disgusting at this time of year. In spite of that, the
neighbor had put the goat up in a pen by the house. They both
commented on how sweet he is. I'm fairly impressed that they got
close enough to notice!
So, now the goat is home and in lock up temporarily, I smell like a buck, dog #3 has
just thrown up on the rug and it's barely 9:00. It can only go up
from here, yes?
Just because I want to include something pretty! :)
