Well, gardening season is pretty much officially over out here. I was hoping for a couple more weeks, but, really, the cold held off longer than I expected as it was. We're supposed to get a couple of hard freezes and possibly snow over the next 2-3 days so this morning was the big 'get ready for the storm' rush. Picked all the last tomatoes and pumpkins. I have a lot of green tomatoes and pumpkins now. Anybody have any ideas on what to do with them? Also got the pumpkin vines pulled and fed to the goats, the tomato vines pulled and tidied up. All that's left is to wait for the berries to frost kill so they can mulched for the winter and the fruit trees to go dormant so I can mulch them, too.
We also got the hoses pulled and put away, the trellises put away, did some last minute 'fixings' in the barn for the animals, the last of the split wood stacked undercover and even a little laundry done. All in all a productive morning. Much as I miss the garden, I do love Fall!
